Sports Chiropractic Care
We provide advanced spinal correction utilizing "state of the art" chiropractic techniques. Never in the history of chiropractic have we been able to provide the level of help and expertise that now exists. These newer correction methods are even safer, more comfortable and more effective than ever before. As a Doctor of Chiropractic, Dr. Sabrina has years of training and experience in spinal and extremity adjusting in children and adults including Gonstead, Diversified, Thompson, Activator, Motion Palpation and SOT techniques.
Massage Therapy
Massage therapists use a variety of techniques to address soft tissue problems. Gentle kneading and stretching lengthens contracted muscles and fascia. Techniques such as sustained pressure, ice massage and stretching can release trigger points. Painful sprains and strains, as well as myofascial adhesions, can be addressed directly with massage techniques that improve circulation and stimulate healthy separation and realignment of injured fibres.
In general, massage increases circulation. This reduces painful swelling and inflammation, and promotes healing by removing waste products and bringing nutrients to your tissues
Acupuncture (Traditional Chinese Medicine)
What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is the insertion of very fine sterile needles into specific points to regulate the function of all systems of the body; cardio-vascular, endocrine, digestive, respiratory, etc. Typically known as a treatment for pain, Acupuncture is growing rapidly across the country as a popular and successful means to treat a wide spectrum of conditions.
How Does Acupuncture Work?
Acupuncture is a form of controlled micro-trauma. By inserting a needle into the affected site we are causing these healing responses to occur. When our protective skin barrier is invaded by any outside trauma, the nervous system's natural response is to begin a chain of reactions to aid healing. Neurochemicals, such as Endorphins and Corticosteroids, are released; the immune system brings white blood cells to theinjured area, and red blood cells carrying oxygen and nutrients run to the site (inflammatory response).
Acupuncture releaxes contracted muscles. The act of sticking a needle into a tense muscle is counterintuitive to muscle contraction and forces muscle relaxation, which is often experienced as a twitch-like response by the patient.
Acupuncture influences the electromagnetic field by causing the body to continually generate tiny but detectable electrical charges. This electrical field influences growth, maturation and cell function. Acupoints are points of low electrical resistance, therefore better conductors of electricity. Needles are metal and good conductors of electricity. Once a needle is inserted, a patient often feels a diffuse vibrational/humming/warming sensation that is very relaxing. This response is a stimulation of parasympathetic responses and endorphin release, which induces relaxation, combating bodily stress.
Do You Have to Believe for it to Work?
Mental stress that some may experience because of apprehension to a needle stick stimulates sympathetic responses in the brain, and a relaxing treatment can seem stressful is one is not in the right state of mind to receive treatment. Having a positive expectation is very valuable in the healing process regardless of treatment modality. Acupuncture is one of many supporting modalities offered at Orlando Sports Chiropractic to help encourage your bodies own healing potential.

Herbs are nature's medicine. They help to provide the body with essential nutrients that may be lacking in the daily diet. When the body does not receive sufficient nutrition, various types of aches, pains, and emotional disorders begin to appear. By using herbs to restore a balance, the body is equipped with what it needs to overcome illness and regain health. Orlando Sports Chiropractic offers a wide variety of Medi-Herb products.
Nutritional Assessment & Support
Individual nutritional needs are determined through a Bio-Meridian scan where specific vitamin, mineral or enzyme imbalances are identified. The Bio-Meridian Scan helps identify the optimal nutritional protocol for healing and energy management. The meridian scan determines the energy levels of each and every organ/system in the body followed by the process of restoring balance to those systems/organs through an assessment report that includes detailed recommendations for an optimal supplementation regimen customized to your specific needs.
Once defeciences and imbalances are located, supplementation is made with Standard Process Whole Food Supplements and Medi-Herb.

Dr. Sabrina Atkins provides care for pregnant women and children. There is a growing need for primary health care providers who use safe, effective, natural methods without side effects, especially for developing children. Many parents turn to chiropractic care for their children, especially after trying conventional medicine methods without seeing any results for many common health related problems. Many more parents are bringing in their children soon after birth to have their spines checked; these babies are not sick! But, these parents realize that the birth process itself places stress on the developing spine.
We teach our patients special "blueprint" exercises designed just for them to help strengthen and correct their own unique problem. These exercises can be performed in the comfort of your own home and can improve the effectiveness of your spinal correction by as much as 30-40%. In addition to skeletal misalignment, muscles and connective tissues can be out of place or strained by improper alignment and use. Specific exercises and stretches can help your body stay in balance and in health.
Dr. Sabrina believes in active therapy. There is a much greater success rate when patients take an active role in their treatment. That's why she has an active therapy room at Orlando Sports Chiropractic. She utilizes the popular Power Plate therapy platform, Foam Roller therapy, and other equipment for musculoskeletal work and propioception training for enhanced progress and greater results.

We often find it helpful to "coach" our patients on certain activities they should avoid or do differently to avoid aggravating their particular health challenge. Our goal is to help every patient achieve a fulfilling and happy lifestyle full of the activities they enjoy most. We recognize that each patient is a whole person, and help them reach true health and wellness through a whole body approach.
There is usually no "one thing" that causes general health problems. It is often a combination of the lifestyle choices made on a regular basis that 'add up' to the symptoms and problems that many people face. When we are dealing with spinal alignment issues, the same is usually true. The importance of lifestyle analysis and correction is stressed in relation to chiropractic treatment.
There is always a balance that must be maintained. There is and always will be stress in our lifestyle no matter how well we try to live. It's making the best choices that we can and working proactively torward a better lifestyle and better health that makes the difference.
Digital X-ray
We are pleased to offer Digital X-Ray. Images are acquired in a digital format so we can view them on a computer rather than on film. This system decreases the need for retakes and eliminates lost images. As with our other modalities, we provide little to no wait time for patients. So you get high quality results right away.
Scoliosis & Posture Correction
Ideal posture is the state of muscular and skeletal balance that protects the supporting structures of the body against injury or progressive deformity, whether at work or rest. It involves the positioning of the joints to provide minimum stress on the body.
If joints are weak or lack mobility or are too mobile, joint wear and modification can occur. Posture involves the chain-link concept of body mechanics in which problems anywhere along the body chain can lead to problems above or below that point.
Postural correction can be achieved through: joint mobilization, heat, massage, stretching, strengthening exercises, and supportive measures to treat ligaments, bones, and nerves.
Spinal & Postural Screenings
Posture and spinal screenings can reveal important health information and unlock the door to improved health and well-being. We provide screenings at community events, health fairs and places of employment.

When applied across joints, Kinesio Tape helps to stabilize the area by holding adjacent bones together at a joint with its elastic strength. This helps joints to act and feel more stable, which is especially helpful when ligaments have been torn or sprained.
When the tape is applied over a muscle, it acts to support the function of that muscle. This function is especially helpful to support weak muscles, such as postural muscles of the back or the plantar fascia of the foot, until they can be strengthened through specific exercises or weight training
The other function of Kinesio Tape is to help the flow of blood or lymphatic fluid under the skin. The tape helps to lift the skin slightly, allowing the blood vessels and lymphatic vessels to expand and flow freely. This function of the tape is remarkable in draining swollen limbs or significantly bruised areas. Many cancer survivers, especially breast cancer survivors, love the effects of the tape to help drain areas formerly serviced by lymph nodes, which have been removed during surgery.
Graston Technique is a soft tissue diagnostic and therapeutic method that has been used in out patient clinics since 1994. Graston instruments-made of stainless steel, specifically designed and developed as an alternative to manual transverse friction massage-are used as an aid in the diagnosis and treatment of soft tissue pathology and dysfunction. The instruments provide diagnostic tactile feedback to both the clinician and the patient, as the instruments act as a focused extension of the clinican's own hands.
Clinical experience has shown that Graston Technique is of benefit in the management of a large variety of musculoskeletal disorders. These include: carpal tunnel syndrome, cervical pain, de Quervain's Syndrome, epicondylitis, fibromyalgia, IT band syndrome, joint sprain, lower back pain, muscle strain, painful scar, plantar fascitis, post fracture pain and tendinitis. A large case series found that Graston Technique reduces numbness, increases patient functional capabilities both in activities of daily living and work related function.
Since the involved tissue binds with normal tissue, it develops a blood supply. As restrictions are released from healthy tissue, bruising may occur, especially in treating chronic conditions. Some areas of the body that have a very rich blood supply may produce more bruising. An increase in soreness and discomfort is not uncommon after the first treatment session and is most often a positive sign that restrictions have been released. Soreness is usually minimized after 48 to 72 hours and can be controlled with ice and stretching.
It is recommended that you drink six to eight 8 oz. glasses of water per day. Adequate hydration is important to promote proper healing.
If you have not experienced the Graston Technique, yet you have lingering discomfort or stiffness, please ask us whether you may be helped by this effective treatment.
Orlando Sports Chiropractic offers several payment options depending on your individual treatment needs.
